The Combat Division of the department has the sole responsibility of responding to emergencies when requested or needed.  All members of the department, no matter what division they are assigned to, are required to respond to emergency calls.  This team is responsible command, safety, rescue, support and scene control of the emergency.

The division maintains modern fire apparatus and ensures that all emergency response equipment is kept in working order for providing proper emergency response services.  Continual training in the use and application of emergency response apparatus is paramount in this division.  Safety of the City's Fire Department staff and the public during emergency response situations is at the forefront of every call.  The goal if this division is to give the residents of our City the best emergency response services possible through the City's continued commitment to provide exemplary training and education for our Fire Department staff.
 
 
 
 
 
 

Training
 
Training to be firefighter with the City Of Macclenny require classroom study as well as hands on instruction.  Firefighters must maintain a 75% passing grade in all areas of instruction.  A new part-time firefighter will be required to obtain over 400 hours of instruction before being allowed to perform duties without direct supervision or in an hazard area.  They must then maintain at least 24 hours per month in-service training to remain employed.
 
All training is conducted under the direction of a State Fire College certified instructor.  The City Of Macclenny provides in-house training as well as training provided through and in cooperation with the State Fire College, Florida DOF, Gateway Community College, and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.
 
 
Todays Training Center located at 714 Hartline Drive, City Station 2, includes a 4 story training tower, burn props, auto extrication, class rooms. The Department has 5 Florida FF-1 certified Instructors, 4 FF-1 Burn instructors, 2 Adjuct. Burn Instructors, plus first responders instructors.
