The Prevention Division of the department has the sole responsibility to ensure the compliance with fire and life safety codes and is the most important non-emergency response division of the department.  The Prevention Division is headed by a Division Chief and one part-time inspector.

Duties of the Prevention Division:
  1. Review plans for new construction.
  2. Review site plans for new subdivisions.
  3. Review fire pre-incident/action plans.
  4. Perform yearly building inspections.
  5. Enforce fire codes.
  6. Offer programs and training for public fire safety and life safety.
