The fire department is assisted by members of a support group created for the "Christmas 4 Kids" program. The support group has expanded to provide rehabilitation for the firefighters and to help with the staffing of the City's Emergency Operations Center during emergencies. The support group is mainly staffed by volunteers that are our firefighters' wives. Of course, the residents of our City welcome to volunteer and we encourage participation in the support group. The support group leaders are appointed by City's Fire Chief and must follow the direction and policies of the City's Fire Department.
The support group raises funds and donations for it's programs like "Christmas 4 Kids". The "Christmas 4 Kids" program provides assistance for families that are truely in need and is not merely an "open door toy give away" program. Fund drives handled by the support group include food booths at the Baker County Fair, the City Of Macclenny 4th of July Fireworks Show, the Lake City Air Show, and other fund drive related events sponsered by the support group.
