Fire Department

The fire department is assisted by the members of a support group which was established for the “Christmas-4-Kids” program. The support group has grown to assist in major emergencies or disasters in providing rehabilitation for the firefighters, and to staff the Macclenny’s Emergency Operation Center during a state of emergency which requires additional communication and control of services.

The support group is mainly staffed by volunteers who are the wives of firefighters, but other citizens are welcome and encouraged to become a part of this group.

The support group is headed by a group leader and assistant leader who is appointed by the Director/Chief and must follow directions and policies of the department.

The group must raise funds and donations for it’s programs as with the Christmas-4-Kids program. This program is by application only providing assistance for families who are truly needy and not merely an open-door toy give away.

Fund drives which are handled by the support group include food booths at the Baker County Fair, the City of Macclenny’s 4^th of July Fireworks Show, the Lake City Air Show, and other events as planned by the group.
